What You'll Do
As a Manufacturing Design Engineer, you will:
- Take existing prototype designs and convert them into production-ready mechanisms
- Redesign assemblies for robustness, repeatability, and field reliability
- Lead DFM / DFA efforts across CNC machining, sheet metal, and additive manufacturing
- Perform tolerance stack-ups and GD&T-driven redesigns to eliminate manual tuning
- Work through multiple design–build–test–iterate cycles
- Create manufacturing-ready drawings, BOMs, and documentation
- Collaborate closely with electronics, firmware, and automation teams
- Support vendor discussions and early pilot production builds
Eligibility
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on mechanical / product design experience
- Background in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Robotics Engineering
- Prior participation in hands-on engineering competitions or tech fests such as: SAE BAJA / BAHA, RoboCon, eYantra, URC, Techfest / similar national or international competitions
- Available for full-time, on-site work at Maker Village, Kochi
- Have been a part of non-academic projects like ROBOCON, e-yantra, SAE BAHA, URC, Techfest etc.
Must-Have Skills
- Solid understanding of sheet metal, CNC machining, and fabrication constraints
- Experience designing parts for additive manufacturing (FDM / SLA)
- Ability to own and iterate mechanisms, not just create CAD models
- Strong attention to detail and quality-driven mindset
- Willingness to learn beyond defined job roles and adapt in a fast-moving startup environment
